What is this white paper about?
The adoption of BIM (Building Information Model) is gaining ground in all phases of the construction chain. The models that are drawn up during the design phase also contain more and more information. Using this information for the long life of an asset is therefore a logical next step. BIM offers a wealth of practical information to save costs in the operating phase as well.
By adding a lot of information and data to the model at an early stage, construction is not only faster with fewer failure costs, the data is also extremely suitable for use in the management and maintenance phase.
The infinite information cycle
Facility managers often run into the same shortcomings. BIM can simplify facility management enormously, but it is not yet used optimally. During a facility management workshop, we investigated the wishes, threats and ideas that facility managers encounter when they want to optimise their work with BIM. These can be divided into different themes: cooperation, knowledge, laws/regulations, suppliers/producers and others.
